ADVISORY: Secretary of State Mollis to Honor Teen Civic Leaders from All Over Rhode Island at State House Ceremony Friday

***Coverage Requested*** WHAT: Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis will honor high school students from all over Rhode Island with 2012 Civic Leadership Awards at a State House ceremony this Friday. The awards are given annually to members of the senior class who make outstanding contributions to their schools and their hometowns.

Mollis asked high schools around the state to select members of the Class of 2012 who best met the ideals of the award: public service, leadership ability and academic achievement.

Nearly 70 schools ranging from Barrington High to Woonsocket High nominated seniors for the honor. This is the sixth consecutive year Mollis will present the awards. Gov. Chafee is expected to join him at the ceremony.

WHEN AND WHERE: Friday, May 11, 5:30 p.m., North Plaza, State House.

HIGHLIGHTS: See the students accept their awards. Talk with award-winners and family about the achievements that led to the awards. Talk with Mollis about the importance of public service and civic leadership.
