Weekend power shutdown may affect travel tools

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced today that it will temporarily shut down the power in the Transportation Management Center tomorrow morning, Saturday, May 19, for planned heating and ventilation work. Access to the Travel Advisories website and online traffic cameras may be affected during this time.

The shutdown, which will take place from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, is necessary to connect new equipment to the main power switch at RIDOT's Providence headquarters, located at Two Capitol Hill.

In addition to the online resources, video-sharing connections with members of the media may be temporarily disconnected during this time. The shutdown also may affect the State's 511 and Highway Advisory Radio systems, and its portable and fixed electronic message signs.

Individuals with questions can contact the Transportation Management Center at 401-222-2378. Additional information may be available on RIDOT's social media sites on Twitter and Facebook.
