The Commission took the following actions:

Issued Advisory Opinion 2012-17 to Kenneth Parrilla, a member of the Westerly Town Council, a municipal elected position, opining that the Code of Ethics prohibits him from participating in the Town Council's consideration of the Misquamicut Beach area sewer expansion plans, given that his mother-in-law's property is included in the current sewer expansion plans.

Issued Advisory Opinion 2012-18 to Lee Kissinger, a member of the Exeter-West Greenwich ("EWG") School Committee, a municipal elected position, opining that he is not prohibited by the Code of Ethics from participating in the subcommittee negotiations between the EWG School Committee and the EWG Regional School District teachers' union that is affiliated with the National Education Association of Rhode Island ("NEARI"), notwithstanding that his wife is a member of another NEARI affiliated teachers' union.

Issued Advisory Opinion 2012-19 to Stephen Gianlorenzo, a member of the Contractors' Registration and Licensing Board, a state appointed position, opining that he is not prohibited by the Code of Ethics from accepting employment with the Contractors' Registration and Licensing Board as a Senior State Building Code Official, a position governed by the Department of Administration, given that the Board has no hiring, supervisory, policy or fiscal authority over the position and also provided that he resigns as a member of the Board.
