On October 5, 2012, at 8:00 AM, members of the Financial Crimes and Major Crimes Units, as well as Uniform Patrol, arrested Esteban Garcia, age 44, of 34 Hartford Avenue, Riverside, Rhode Island, for the following: 1) Five counts of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses (over $500); 2) One count of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses (under $500); 3. Fugitive from Justice from the State of Florida on a Probation Violation for an original charge of Burglary; 4) Sixth District Court Capias for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Operating on a Suspended License; and 5) Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Embezzlement. The subject was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and arraigned in Sixth District Court. The Honorable Magistrate Joseph P. Ippolito Jr. set bail on the new charges at $25,000 with surety and held Garcia without bail on the Fugitive from Justice charge pending transfer to Florida authorities.
On October 5, 2012, at 9:00 am, members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Kersey Rodriguez, age 34, of 43 Sabra Street, Cranston, Rhode Island, for Cyberharrassment. Mr. Rodriguez was processed at the State Police Wickford barracks. Mr. Rodriguez was arraigned in Third District Court before the Honorable Judge Woodcock-Pfeifer where he pled nolo and received a one year filing, mental health evaluation and a no contact order.
On October 5, 2012, at approximately 1:50 PM, members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Karissa Putman, age 24, of 33 High Street, Hopkinton, RI, for the following: 1) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant issued by the Providence Police Department for 2nd Degree Robbery; and 2) Fugitive From Justice from the State of Massachusetts (Affidavit and Arrest warrant issued by the Seekonk Police Department for Destruction of Property). Putman was turned over to the Providence Police Department. The arrest was the result of an investigation by the VFTF.
