On January 9, 2013, members of the VFTF arrested Mr. Rodney Bates, age 58, of 188 Academy Avenue, Providence, RI, for the following: 1) North Kingstown Affidavit & Arrest Warrant for Possession of a Firearm without a License. Mr. Bates was processed at the Wickford Barracks.
On January 9, 2013, Detectives assigned to the ACI charged Mr. Robert E. Ayala Jr., age 34, having a last known address of 21 Ashmont Street, Providence, Rhode Island, with being a Fugitive from Justice from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mr. Ayala was wanted by the North Attleboro Police Department on a straight warrant for the following: 1) Larceny over $250. Mr. Ayala appeared before the Honorable Judge Houlihan in Third Division District Court, where extradition proceedings were waived. Mr. Ayala was remanded to the custody of the Intake Service Center of the ACI to await Massachusetts authorities.
On January 9, 2013, members of the HIDTA Unit arrested Mr. Giovanni Morales Nieves, age 22, of 214 Cottage Street, 3rd Floor, Woonsocket, RI, for the following: 1) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for two (2) counts of Delivery of Heroin to a Police Officer; 2) Possession of Heroin, 1 ounce to 1 kilo; and 3) Possession of Heroin with Intent to Deliver. Mr. Nieves was processed at the Lincoln Barracks and arraigned before a Justice of the Peace, where he was ordered held without bail. Mr. Nieves was transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions.
