Rhode Island State Police Arrests Wrong Way Driver on Route 95 for Suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated

Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety announces, that at 3:55 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2013, the Lincoln Woods Barracks began receiving 911 calls of a vehicle traveling south in the northbound lane of Route 95, in the vicinity of Thurbers Avenue in the City of Providence. The suspect vehicle, described as a gold Toyota, stopped in the northbound high-speed lane in the area of the Jefferson Boulevard in the City of Cranston. Troopers and Cranston Police arrived on scene, and upon further investigation, it was revealed that the operator was suspected of being intoxicated.

The operator is identified as Danubio Suchite, age 49, of 39 Harold Street, Providence, Rhode Island. Mr. Suchite was arrested and transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks and charged with the following:

• Driving Under the Influence of Liquor and or Drugs: (BAC results – 1st .225%, 2nd .235%) • Reckless Driving

Mr. Suchite was processed and held overnight at the Lincoln Woods Barracks pending an arraignment in Third Division Court on the above charges.

As was stated by Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell at a press conference on December 27, 2012, promoting "365 Days of Safety" awareness program, he emphasizes that members of both the Rhode Island State Police and local police will remain vigilant with regard to strict enforcement of the Rhode Island General Laws, and specifically detecting impaired motorists.

Motorists are reminded that they can immediately report dangerous drivers or hazardous roadway conditions to the police by dialing 911 or *77 on their cellular telephone.
