Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety announces that members of the Rhode Island State Police have arrested a "Prospect" for the Hells Angels Virginia Beach Side, Virginia Chapter for two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
On Saturday, January 26, 2013 at approximately 12:55 PM, members of the Rhode Island State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 10 in the City of Providence after the operator was observed making several lane changes without the use of a turn signal and several passengers were observed not wearing seatbelts. The operator was taken into custody after being found to be in possession of cocaine, as well as amphetamine without a prescription. The operator was identified as Douglas L. Crain, age 40, of 937 Baillio Drive Virginia Beach, Virginia. Further investigation revealed Douglas L. Crain is currently a "Prospect" for the Virginia Beach Side Chapter of the Hells Angels. Troopers identified other occupants of the vehicle as "Full Patch" members of the Virginia Beach Side Chapter of the Hells Angels to include the Chapter President.
It was learned that Crain and the occupants of the vehicle were in route to the Hells Angels club house located at 161 Messer Street in Providence to attend the 20th anniversary party of the Providence, Rhode Island Chapter of the Hells Angels. This event was attended by over 100 Hells Angels members and prospects from numerous Chapters throughout the United States. Some of the out of state Chapter members that were in attendance had traveled to Rhode Island from as far away as Alaska, Hawaii, California, Arizona, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York and Ohio to name a few.
Crain was arraigned at the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks by a Justice of the Peace on two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $1000 with surety. Crane posted bail and was released from custody pending his appearance at future court dates.
