On January 28, 2013, members of the State Police Financial Crimes Unit arrested Thomas C. Cagle, age 49, of 400 Deal Lake, Asbury Park, New Jersey for two felony Counts of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses, Conspiracy to Obtain Money Under False Pretenses, Access to a Computer for Fraudulent Purposes, Affidavit and Arrest Warrant from the R.I.S.P. Wickford Barracks for two counts of Fraudulent Checks, an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant from the R.I.S.P. Wickford Barracks for Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses over $1000 and a bench warrant issued by the Washington County Superior Court for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on original charges of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses and Unlawful Appropriation brought by the North Kingstown Police Department. This arrest was a result of the coordinated efforts of State Police detectives and local authorities in the Lakewood (NJ) Police Department. He was taken into custody by the Lakewood Police Department (NJ) and charged as a Fugitive from the State of Rhode Island. Mr. Cagle was subsequently transported to Rhode Island, presented for arraignment before the Honorable Associate Judge Madeline Quirk at Fourth Division District Court and bail was set at $5,000 with surety.
