Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announces that on February 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM, a member of the Hope Valley Barracks stopped a motor vehicle for speeding on Route 95 north in the Town of West Greenwich. During the course of the motor vehicle stop, the trooper located thirty one (31) credit cards of various types, some bearing the name of the operator and others bearing the name of unknown persons. The investigation revealed that the credit cards were fraudulent and were encoded with information from stolen credit cards. State Police Financial Crimes Unit and the United States Secret Service assisted with the investigation to determine that the credit cards were fraudulent and encoded with stolen credit card information.
The two subjects were identified as:
• Emendjer Mathurin, age 22 of 209-44 112th Avenue in Queens Village, NY • Abdul Springer, age 37 of 8900 170th Street Jamaica, NY
Both subjects were held overnight at the Hope Valley barracks and will be arraigned at Third Division District Court at 2:00 PM today on the charge of Obtaining Credit Cards Through Fraudulent Means. The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
