Colonel Steven G., Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces that at May 1, 2013 at 11:10 p.m., members of the Lincoln Woods Barracks received several 9-1-1 telephone calls alerting them to a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 95 south at Route 113 in Warwick.

The investigation revealed that Edwin A. McDaid, age 46, of 24 Forge Pond, Canton, Massachusetts was operating a 2012 Jeep on Route 95 south and attempted to exit onto Route 113 at Exit 12A in the City of Warwick. Mr. McDaid was not able to negotiate the ramp and exited the left side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled through the grassy shoulder and rolled over onto the driver's side. The investigation revealed that the operator was not wearing a seatbelt, which caused him to be ejected through the sunroof of the vehicle.

Mr. McDaid was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died from the injuries sustained from being ejected during the motor vehicle crash.
