RIDOT Completes Repairs to Narragansett's Great Island Bridge; Removes 3-Ton Weight Limit

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) has completed repairs to the Great Island Bridge in Narragansett, returning the bridge to its original posting (weight limit). RIDOT had posted the bridge at 3 tons on Friday, April 26, 2013 when a recent inspection revealed increased deterioration of the timber deck. The Great Island Bridge is scheduled to be replaced in 2014.

WHAT: RIDOT Maintenance crews made repairs to the timber deck on the Great Island Bridge in Narragansett. The posting on the bridge is re-established at: 2 Axle - 12 tons, 3 Axle - 18 tons, and 5 Axle - 28 tons.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 7, 2013.

WHERE: Great Island Bridge, connecting Galilee to Great Island, Narragansett.
