Three Providence Men Arrested On Charges Relating To A Home Invasion In West Greenwich, Warrant Issued for Fourth Man

Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent, of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, and West Greenwich Police Chief Richard Ramsay, announce the arrest of three Providence men on charges relating to a home invasion.

The arrests were the result of a joint investigation by members of the Rhode Island State Police and the West Greenwich Police Department of a home invasion that occurred in the early morning hours of June 30, 2013 on Mishnock Road in West Greenwich. West Greenwich Police responded to the residence and conducted the initial investigation, which revealed that the homeowner was asleep in the residence and awoken by three (3) men who tied him up. One of the men allegedly demanded money and pointed a firearm at the homeowner. While he was tied-up, the homeowner heard the suspects opening and closing doors and draws. After the suspects left the residence, the homeowner was able to free himself and call 911 for assistance. The suspects took electronic devices including a laptop computer, approximately $250 in cash, prescription medication and a quantity of marijuana. The homeowner possesses a medical marijuana registry identification card issued by the Department of Health.

The Rhode Island State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Violent Fugitive Task Force joined the investigation after the computer was traced to the Pekin Street area of Providence. Detectives located the laptop computer at 37 Pekin Street and later located and seized the vehicle the suspects utilized for the home invasion.

The investigation resulted in the following arrests:

Adalberto Martinez, age 20, of 37 Pekin Street, Third Floor, Providence Juan Morel, age 20, of 19 Redwing Street, Basement, Providence Gabriel E. Acosta, age 19, of 207 Cranston Street, Apartment E-1, Providence

An arrest warrant has been issued for:

Soilandro Disla, age 21, of 120 Moore Street, Providence

All of the men are alleged to have participated in the home invasion and will be or have been charged with:

Kidnapping Burglary Using a Firearm when Committing a Crime of Violence Receiving Stolen Goods Conspiracy Simple Assault Possession of Marijuana-over one (1) ounce

On July 1, 2013, Adalberto Martinez was arraigned in Third Division District Court on the above charges. The Honorable Associate Judge Stephen M. Isherwood entered no plea for Martinez, set bail at $50,000 with surety and remanded Mr. Martinez to the Adult Correctional Institution Intake Service Center. A pre-arraignment conference hearing was scheduled for August 29, 2013.

On July 3, 2013, Juan Morel was arraigned in Third Division District Court on the above charges. The Honorable Associate Judge Pamela Woodcock-Pfeiffer entered no plea for Martinez, set bail at $50,000 with surety and remanded Morel to the Adult Correctional Institution Intake Service Center. A pre-arraignment conference hearing was scheduled for September 17, 2013.

On July 3, 2013, Gabriel E. Acosta was arraigned in Third Division District Court on the above charges. The Honorable Associate Judge Pamela Woodcock-Pfeiffer entered no plea for Acosta, set bail at $50,000 with surety and remanded Acosta to the Adult Correctional Institution Intake Service Center. A pre-arraignment conference hearing was scheduled for September 17, 2013.
