The Business Workforce Center at the RI Department of Labor and Training will host a recruitment event, Wednesday, Aug. 14, to help an area contact center hire up to 75 customer service representatives to support HealthSource RI, Rhode Island's health care exchange.
The recruitment, held promptly at 12:30 PM at the netWORKri One-Stop Career Center, One Reservoir Ave., will include an orientation by contact center personnel as well as select on-site interviews. In addition to hiring English-speaking representatives, the company is interested in hiring bilingual Portuguese and bilingual Spanish representatives.
Calling the recruitment "a welcome boost for the economy," Department of Labor and Training Director Charles J. Fogarty adds, "These new job opportunities are a direct result of Governor Chafee's proactive efforts in launching Rhode Island's own health care exchange."
The starting salary for the call center positions is $12.70/hour, with premium wages offered for bilingual agents. The jobs will be located at the call center's Royal Little Drive offices in Providence. The center will be open from 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM Monday through Saturday, and from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 PM on Sunday. Customer Service representatives must be available to work all shifts. Successful applicants will receive four weeks of intensive training in health care and insurance information.
All applicants are required to possess strong customer service and verbal communications skills. Applicants should also be comfortable conducting internet-based searches and using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook computer applications.
