Deadline for Filing 2014 Annual Reports For All For-Profit Corporations is Monday

Monday is an important deadline for Rhode Island Companies

PROVIDENCE, RI -- The Office of Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis announced today that the deadline for filing 2014 annual reports for all for-profit corporations is Monday, March 31 at 4:30 p.m. For-profit corporations that remit a 2014 annual report after March 31, will be assessed a $25 late filing penalty fee.

Secretary Mollis is also reminding local businesses there is a useful on-online filing tool to file annual reports on the Secretary of State's website at "On-line filing gives companies a few extra hours to meet the deadline, since the service is available 24/7, and companies have until midnight, March 31 to submit their annual reports." said Secretary Mollis.

Business owners may also file via mail or in person at the Secretary of State's Division of Business Services, located at 148 West River Street in Providence, Rhode Island.

More than 32,000 for-profit corporations, which do business in Rhode Island, are required by law to file annual reports with the Secretary of State's office.

Failure to file an annual report can result in fines and the revocation of a company's Certificate of Incorporation or Certificate of Authority. These certificates provide companies with the legal basis for conducting a variety of business-related activities in Rhode Island. During other times of the year, non-profit corporations and limited liability companies are also required to file annual reports.

Secretary Mollis' goal is to provide Rhode Islanders with as many resources as possible to begin, maintain and grow their businesses. As the official repository for business and commercial records, our office maintains the records of over 65,000 registered corporate entities, 140,000 commercial liens, 4,000 trademark/service mark registrations and 21,000 notaries public commissions.
