The Wakefield netWORKri one-stop career center, located in the Stedman Government Center at 4808 Tower Hill Road, will expand its hours of operation. Effective Tuesday, July 15th, the center will be open to the public Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Last month, the Employment and Training Administration (ETA) of the US Department of Labor awarded $701,363 in Reemployment and Eligibility Assessment (REA) grant funding to the RI Department of Labor and Training. These funds will be used to expand the REA program in Rhode Island and make the Wakefield netWORKri career center a fourth REA entry point.
As a result, the Wakefield office will be open three days a week instead of two through the end of the program year: March 31, 2015. Trained REA counselors currently see clients at the Providence, West Warwick and Woonsocket netWORKri one-stop career centers.
"ETA's additional funding has enabled us to increase service in Wakefield 33 percent. This reflects the dedication of the US Department of Labor and DLT to helping Rhode Islanders find the employment they seek," Director DLT Director Charles J. Fogarty.
South County residents seeking employment services, such as no-cost access to computers and internet job search sites or constructive feedback on building a résumé or skill-building seminars such as "How to Interview Well," are encouraged to consider the Wakefield netWORKri to be an excellent resource.
