Former Woonsocket Resident Sentenced to 60 Years, with 27 to Serve, for Multiple Counts of Child Molestation

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that yesterday Superior Court Justice Netti C. Vogel sentenced David Girard (age 35) of Dixfield, Maine, to 60 years, with 27 years to serve with the remainder suspended with probation, for three counts of first and three counts of second degree child molestation. Justice Vogel also ordered Girard to undergo sex offender counseling and entered an order of no contact with the victims.

Upon release from the ACI, Girard is subject to lifetime community notification and registration and GPS monitoring. Girard pled guilty before Justice Vogel on November 20, 2014.

Had the case proceeded to trial, the State was prepared to prove that while Girard was residing in Woonsocket, he molested three young girls, with whom he was familiar, on multiple occasions between 2005 and 2012. The victims were ages six to 11 years at the time of the abuse.

Special Assistant Attorneys General Gina Lopes and Sara Pierson prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General.
