Traffic Advisory UPDATE: Current Restrictions on I-195 East and West in Providence to be Lifted on Monday, July 24 and Tuesday, July 25

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) today announced that the current restrictions on I-195 East and I-195 West between the Gano Street exit and the I-95 Interchange in Providence are slated to be lifted in time for the morning commute on Monday, July 24 and Tuesday, July 25, respectively.

Prior to the restrictions being lifted, lane closures will take place on Sunday night, July 23 on I-195 East and on Monday night, July 24 on I-195 West starting at 8 p.m. to remove the temporary barrier and put down temporary striping. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Once the barriers have been removed and temporary striping placed, motorists will experience overnight lane closures for the placement of permanent striping. This is anticipated to take place on Tuesday night, July 25.

The Providence Area Bridges Project is made possible by RhodeWorks, RIDOT's ongoing commitment to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring Rhode Island's transportation infrastructure into a state of good repair, promote economic development, and create jobs.
