Kate Brock named next Chief of Staff

Treasurer Seth Magaziner today announced that Kate Brock will serve as Chief of Staff in the Office of the General Treasurer effective January 1, 2019.

"For the past three years, Kate Brock has been an exemplary member of Team Treasury," said Treasurer Magaziner. "As Deputy Director of Retirement, she has worked with our counseling staff to deliver excellent service to our members."

Brock currently serves as Deputy Director of the state's retirement system, where she has worked to implement customer service improvements including improved counseling resources for members of the retirement system. Her previous experience includes Director of Government Programs at Delta Dental, policy aide for the Chafee administration, and as a labor organizer with SEIU.

Brock will succeed Patrick Marr who, after ten years of service to the State of Rhode Island under Treasurers Caprio, Raimondo and Magaziner, is transitioning to an opportunity in the private sector.

"In his decade of service at Treasury, Patrick has served as fiscal manager, unclaimed property director, CFO, COO and Chief of Staff," said Treasurer Magaziner. "He has made a mark on every part of the office, and I can't wait to see what he does in the future."

In addition to Brock, Treasurer Magaziner also announced that Jeff Thurston will serve as the state's cash manager beginning in November.
