OM 19-20 Principe v. Wangari Mathaai Community School - No Violation

The Complainant alleged that the School violated the OMA when it failed to post notice of a March 29, 2019 meeting on the Secretary of State's website. The School submitted undisputed evidence that the March 29, 2019 event was a public hearing for public comment pursuant to R.I. Gen. Laws § 23-19.14-4, and that less than a quorum of the School's Board of Directors ("Board") were present. This Office determined that the undisputed evidence failed to establish that a quorum of the Board engaged in a collective discussion about a matter over which the Board had control. Accordingly, the OMA was not implicated, and we found no violation.
