As part of its ongoing Cranston Canyon/Route 37 Bridges project, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) on Sunday night, July 6, will make an adjustment to the current traffic pattern on a section of Route 37 West in Cranston. This involves shifting the location of the lane split prior to the I-295 North exit.
The new configuration will still feature one lane to the right for I-295 North and one lane to the left to continue on Route 37 West, but with the modification it will function more like a traditional off-ramp and should be easier for drivers to navigate.
The change is related to the start of work to reconstruct the bridge carrying Route 37 over Oaklawn Avenue. It will be in place for the rest of the summer, followed by additional shifts.
All construction projects are subject to changes in schedule and scope depending on needs, circumstances, findings and weather.
The reconstruction of Route 37 bridges is made possible by RhodeWorks. RIDOT is committed to bringing Rhode Island's infrastructure into a state of good repair while respecting the environment and striving to improve it. Learn more at www.ridot.net/RhodeWorks.
