RIDOC and RIBCO Team Up in Holiday Fundraiser

The Rhode Island Brotherhood of Correctional Officers and the Rhode Island Department of Corrections is teaming up on a fund raiser designed to assist needy families in Rhode Island this holiday season. Given the economic climate, corrections employees realize that many families in our state are worried about how to put food on the table, heat their homes, and provide for their loved ones as the holidays approach. Employees are being invited to purchase a specially-designed long-sleeved black T-shirt with the RIDOC shield, the RIBCO emblem and the word “Corrections” on the sleeve for $15. Proceeds will go to charity.

A friendly competition will take place between the various RIDOC buildings to see which building can sell the most shirts. Each building will designate a charity to which to donate the proceeds from its sales.

The project has the full support of the administration and the RIBCO leadership. According to Correctional Officers David Petronelli and Antonio (Tony) Carvalho, both of whom work at the Donald Price Medium Security Facility, the first run of 300 shirts has already been sold and another shipment of 100 is on order.
