Lt. Governor Roberts to Attend Departure of Rhode Island Air National Guard Unit

PROVIDENCE- Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts, Chair of the Emergency Management Advisory Council joins Major General Robert T. Bray, Adjutant General of Rhode Island and Commanding General of the Rhode Island National Guard at the departure of 42 members of the Air National Guard, SATURDAY, January 10, at 9:00 a.m. from the Quonset Air National Guard Base.

Members of the 282nd Combat Communications Squadron, located at the North Smithfield Air National Guard Station, are being deployed again in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and will be assigned to Air Expeditionary Wings located in Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar. They will be deployed overseas for a period of at least 120 days.

In her role as chair of the Emergency Management Advisory Council, Lt. Gov. Roberts has continued her ongoing support of the Rhode Island National Guard, as well as her support of all Rhode Island men and women who serve their country in the armed forces. Operation Holiday Cheer and the Military Family Relief Funds are joint initiatives of the Rhode Island National Guard and the Office of the Lt. Governor
