Lt. Gov. Roberts to Tour Bristol Local Businesses for Buy Local RI

Bristol “Main Street” Event for Buy Local RI Continues the Statewide Initiative to Grow Sales and Customer Base For Locally Owned Businesses

PROVIDENCE— Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts, Chair of the Small Business Advocacy Council, continues her “Main Street” walking tours of local businesses for the statewide initiative Buy Local RI, Thursday, February 12th, at 10:00 a.m. in Bristol.

Lt. Gov. Roberts will also meet with local Bristol business owners at a meeting of the Downtown Bristol Merchants Association at 9:00 a.m., preceding the walking tour.

Buy Local RI launched last November with a public awareness campaign, encouraging Rhode Islanders to support our local businesses by shopping locally for the holidays. The “Main Street” events build on existing local initiatives that highlight the opportunity and benefits of choosing to Buy Local RI, not just during the holiday season, but also throughout the year.

The Buy Local RI initiative has also created a working group which is in the process of developing a website dedicated to expanding the market for local businesses and products by connecting people to Rhode Island businesses. There is currently a statewide competition, open to all Rhode Islanders, to design a logo for Buy Local RI. For more information, visit the Buy Local RI page on the Lt. Governor’s website at: http://www.ltgov.ri.gov/buylocalri/
