Governor Carcieri today called on the General Assembly to pass a resolution to place a constitutional amendment on the November 2010 ballot to strengthen the role of Ethics Commission.
“To regain confidence and trust of the people of Rhode Island, I strongly urge the General Assembly to act immediately upon their return to address the conflicts in our State Constitution and pass a resolution to place the matter before the voters in 2010. I believe the intention of the voters was to hold all elected officials, including members of the House and Senate, to the same high level of ethical standards.”
