Five Beaches Closed to Swimming

HEALTH officials recommend re-opening Barrington Town Beach for swimming. This recommendation is based on results from water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits. HEALTH will continue to monitor the water quality regularly to assure safe bathing throughout the summer season.

HEALTH officials recommended the closure of Scarbrough State Beach in Narragansett, Peabody's Beach in Middletown, and Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the area is safe for swimming.

The following licensed beach remains closed to swimming due to high bacteria counts:Grinell's Beach in Tiverton and Fogland Beach in Tiverton. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the areas are safe for swimming. Water quality analysis is conducted by the HEALTH laboratory or a state certified laboratory.
