RIDOT Reminds Motorists: Don't Let Halloween Turn into a Nightmare

Halloween is almost here and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is joining the local and State law enforcement community and the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) to remind motorists not to drink and drive.

A press event to reinforce this message is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2009. The event will be held at 10:00 a.m. at RIDOT’s Maintenance Headquarters at 360 Lincoln Avenue in Warwick.

The event will also serve as the official debut for the new Variable Message Signs (VMS’s) that were recently purchased by RIDOT and the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association to help aid law enforcement efforts.

In addition to RIDOT Director Michael P. Lewis, the agenda will also include: NHTSA Regional Administrator Philip Weiser; and Pawtucket Police Chief George Kelley, who also serves at President of the Rhode Island Police Chiefs Association.
