Lt. Gov. Roberts to Tour Pawtuxet Village Local Businesses for Buy Local RI

Cranston “Main Street” holiday event for Buy Local RI continues the statewide initiative to grow sales and customer base for locally owned businesses

PROVIDENCE— Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts, Chair of the Small Business Advocacy Council, continues her holiday “Main Street” walking tours to highlight the importance of local businesses to the Rhode Island economy for the statewide initiative Buy Local RI, Saturday, December 12th, at 2:30 p.m. in Pawtuxet Village in Cranston.

The Lt. Governor’s visit of local businesses will coincide with the “Historic Pawtuxet Village Holiday Stroll.” event.

Buy Local RI launched last holiday season with a public awareness campaign, encouraging Rhode Islanders to support our local businesses by shopping locally for the holidays. The “Main Street” events build on existing local initiatives that highlight the opportunity and benefits of choosing to Buy Local RI during the holiday season and throughout the year.

The Buy Local RI initiative has also launched a website, dedicated to expanding the market for local businesses and products by connecting consumers and businesses to Rhode Island companies. Independent Rhode Island businesses are encouraged to register at no cost on the Buy Local RI website, which will feature a fully searchable database of Rhode Island businesses, goods and services.
