Flood Watch In Effect For Southern New England

“RIEMA will be closely monitoring the potential for flooding from upcoming heavy rains. It is expected that we can expect at least one inch up to 2.5 inches of rain starting late this afternoon and continuing through tomorrow” stated RIEMA Executive Director J. D. Smith. The heaviest rain will occur over eastern New England according to the National Weather Service. If we end up with the higher amount, there may be renewed flooding along the Pawtuxet. That potential does not look to be as significant as what occurred last week. A flood watch has bees issued for Rhode Island.

Residents living along the low lying areas should take the usual precautions.
