Director Ashbel T. Wall II has announced the promotion of Gerry Masso of North Providence, a 14-year veteran of the Department, to the newly-created position of Armorer with the Rhode Island Department of Corrections. Previously a Correctional Officer at the Anthony P. Travisono Intake Service Center, Officer Masso is also a member of the Correctional Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.).
The only Armorer in the state, Officer Masso is responsible for all weapons owned by the Department, including guns, as well as the ammunition for that equipment. He started in the position at the beginning of October.
