netWORKri sponsors online training event at Warwick Mall

Staffers from netWORKri one-stop career centers can help interested job seekers and others wishing to improve their marketable skills access free online training at a Metrix Online Learning Fair, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, at the Warwick Mall. No pre-registration is required for this event.

More than 5,000 online training modules are available in subject areas such as desktop computing, accounting, health care and project management.

Once a student has received a username and password, he or she gains 90 days of 24/7 access to the entire course catalogue. These courses, which can be accessed through any computer with an internet connection, are most appropriate for self-directed students who already possess basic computer skills. To keep the license active, a participant must complete at least one course module within the first 14 days of registration. Active users may be granted extended access beyond the initial 90-day period.

Those who are interested in Metrix online training but are unable to attend the March 8th event may choose to attend one the following free Metrix Online Learning info sessions held at the netWORKri one-stop career centers around the state:

- Thursday, March 10 at 10 a.m.: Woonsocket netWORKri, 219 Pond St. Telephone pre-registration is required at 235-1201.

- Monday, March 14 at 10 a.m.: Pawtucket netWORKri, 175 Main St. Telephone pre-registration is required at 721-1800.

- Monday, March 21 at 9:30 a.m.: Wakefield netWORKri, 4808 Tower Hill Rd., Telephone pre-registration is required at 782-4362.

- Friday, March 25 at 10 a.m.: Providence netWORKri, One Reservoir Ave. Telephone pre-registration is required at 462-8900.

-Monday, March 28 at 10 a.m.: Pawtucket netWORKri, 175 Main St. Telephone pre-registration is required at 721-1800.
