Florida Drug Suspect Apprehended by the Violent Fugitive Task Force in Pawtucket

Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announced today that members of the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested a Florida man wanted as a fugitive for narcotics violations.

On May 15, 2012, members of the State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force, assisted by members of United States Marshals Boston Area Task Force, as well as members of the Pawtucket Police, tracked a subject identified as James Marcelin, age 35, to a residence located at 880 York Avenue, Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Marcelin was wanted on a Broward County, Florida Sheriff's Department arrest warrant for a charge of Trafficking Oxycodone and Conspiracy to Traffic Oxycodone. At approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Task Force observed Marcelin entering the residence. Marcelin was located and arrested on the second floor without incident. Marcelin had a prior arrest record for narcotic and weapon violations in Massachusetts and/or Florida.

Mr. Marcelin was arraigned today in the 6th Division District Court in Providence as a Fugitive From Justice. Marcelin waived extradition and is being held at the Adult Correctional Institution for Florida authorities.

The Violent Fugitive Task Force is comprised of Rhode Island State Police Detectives and United States Marshals from the Providence Office
