The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is reminding rail commuters that on Sunday, July 1, 2012 Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) service and fare changes will go into effect.
The travel fare on an MBTA commuter train between Wickford Junction and T.F. Green will cost $3 each way. The cost of travel between Wickford Junction and Providence is $3.25 each way. Travel between Wickford Junction and Boston's South Station will cost $11 each way. Travel between T.F. Green and Providence costs $3 each way, while travel between T.F. Green and Boston costs $10.50 each way. Travel between Providence and Boston costs $10, or $13 on board.
Tickets are half price for seniors as well as those with physical disabilities. Children age 11 and younger are free when accompanied by a paying adult.
Monthly passes for unlimited travel between Wickford Junction and Providence will cost $109. Monthly passes for unlimited travel between Wickford Junction and South Station will cost $345. Monthly passes for unlimited travel between Providence and T.F. Green cost $100. Monthly passes for unlimited travel between T.F. Green and Boston cost $329, with monthly passes for Interzone 2 travel between Providence and T.F. Green $100. Monthly passes between Providence and Boston cost $314. The monthly passes (not Interzone) include travel on all MBTA buses and subways and the Inner Harbor Ferry.
Daily, multiple rides and monthly passes are available for purchase at Café La France at the Providence Station.
