Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts' Statement on Preventive Services for Women under the ACA

"As of August 1, 2012, 47 million women will have access--for the first time ever--to preventive services that put them and their doctors in charge of their healthcare decisions. Under the Affordable Care Act, most private insurers and all new insurance plans will cover additional, life-saving services for women at no cost to them, including annual wellness visits and screenings. This is a crucial step in keeping women healthy by providing services that can catch potentially serious illnesses at their early stages. No longer will women have to put off prevention and go without necessary doctor's visits."
