Overnight closures needed to fix drainage system on Great Road in Lincoln

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced today that it will close a portion of Route 122 (Great Road) in Lincoln during overnight hours to repair a drainage system that crosses the entire roadway near the intersection with Front Street. The closure is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 8 p.m. The roadway will reopen each morning by 6 a.m. The work is expected to take five nights to complete.

RIDOT will establish signed detours using Great Road, Route 116 (George Washington Highway) and Route 122 (Mendon Road). Those traveling north on Route 146 heading for destinations along Great Road east of Front Street should instead use the Route 116 exit and follow the detour route.

Motorists using Route 123 in both Lincoln and Cumberland are advised to review detour maps on RIDOT's website at www.dot.ri.gov/travelri/detourmaps.asp and allow extra time for travel through this area. Daytime lane closures on this section of Great Road are also possible.

Those with questions can contact RIDOT's Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional information will be available on RIDOT's Twitter and Facebook sites.
