.State Police Arrest Bail Violator Ordered to Home Confinement After Being Charged with First Degree Child Molestation

Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announced today that members of the Rhode Island State Police Detective Bureau and Hope Valley Barracks arrested a subject who walked away from confinement while on bail for two counts of child molestation.

On September 1, 2012, at approximately 11:15 AM, members of the Rhode Island State Police Detective Bureau and Hope Valley Barracks, arrested Raymond D. Marr, age 32, of 713 Washington Street, Coventry, Rhode Island for a Superior Court warrant for violating the terms of his bail. On November 14, 2011, Marr had been placed on home confinement as a condition of his bail for two counts of 1st Degree Child Molestation. The Rhode Island State Police Detective Bureau received notification yesterday afternoon from the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, Community Corrections and Confinement Unit that Marr had left the confines of his residence and could not be located. Members of the Major Crimes Unit and Violent Fugitive Task Force immediately initiated a search for Marr. The Coventry Police Department was also notified and subsequently issued a community notification alert while joining in the search.

This morning, members of the State Police tracked Marr to the Classic Motor Lodge located at 859 Victory Highway, West Greenwich, Rhode Island where he was placed under arrest after providing an alias name to the arresting Troopers. Troopers seized marijuana and prescription narcotics from the motel room.

Ms. Marr was arraigned before a bail commissioner at State Police Headquarters at which time he was presented as a Superior Court bail violator. Marr was also arraigned on the charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule IV), Obstruction of a Police Officer and Possession of Marijuana. Marr was then turned over to the Rhode Island Department of Corrections, Intake Service Center.
