RI Guard Assists in Storm Recovery

Soldiers and Airmen work with community services in assessment and recovery operations

The Rhode Island National Guard is assisting first responders and emergency management staff in assessing and responding to impacts from the storm.

Currently Soldiers are performing emergency route clearance in support of the Department of Transportation throughout the state.

Military Police officers are conducting circulation control operations in Bristol, Westerly, Middletown, and South Kingstown.

In addition Service members completed Traffic Control Point operations in the areas of Portsmouth, and Bristol.

The Rhode Island National Guard stands ready to provide manned, equipped and trained units and personnel that are prepared to respond to state and local authorities as directed by the Governor to assist in maintaining peace, order and public safety.
