RIDOT to Temporarily Close Three Lanes of I-95 NB Overnight

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced that it will close three lanes on I-95 North in Warwick and Cranston on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, for pavement repairs on the highway. The restrictions will take place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Exit 14 (Route 37) and Exit 16 (Route 10).

Lanes will be closed one at a time beginning with the high-speed lane at 7 p.m. All three lanes will be closed by approximately 10 p.m. Motorists should expect delays in this area and may wish to seek alternate routes, such as I-295. The work will only take one night, and all lanes will be reopened in time for the morning commute on Thursday, December 20.

The lane closures are needed to improve the condition of the two middle lanes on I-95 North between Auburn Street and Park Avenue in Cranston. The Department is acting quickly to take advantage of a break in the weather and complete the work in advance of the busy holiday travel week.

Motorists with questions can contact RIDOT's Customer Service office at 401-222-2450 weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional information can be found on RIDOT's social media sites Twitter and Facebook.
