Interim Report of the Providence County Grand Jury (Reported March 15, 2013)

Jamal Contreras, DOB: 07/05/95 165 Holland Street Cranston, RI P1-2013-0820A

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Jamal Contreras with one count of first degree robbery, one count of conspiracy, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a firearm without a license, and one count of use of a firearm while in the commission of a crime of violence.

It is alleged that on or about June 11, 2012, Contreras and an un-identified co-conspirator committed robbery on two individuals at gun point in Providence during an arranged meeting to buy items posted on Craig's List. As a result of the investigation by the Providence Police into the alleged incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Contreras. On or about June 23, 2012, the Cranston Police arrested Contreras, who allegedly had a firearm in his possession at the time of the arrest.

Contreras, who was waived out of Family Court and is currently held without bail, is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court before Justice Robert D. Krause on March 22, 2013.
