Media Advisory: RIDOT to speak at informational meeting on High Street project in Wakefield and Peace Dale

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will hold an informational meeting for the public on Monday, May 6 to unveil its plans for improvements to High Street and a portion of Kingstown Road in the villages of Wakefield and Peace Dale. RIDOT design engineers and South Kingstown town officials will be on hand to answer questions and gather input from the public on this project.

WHAT: RIDOT to meet with South Kingstown residents and business owners to review design plans for High Street. High Street links two of the town's largest and most densely populated villages, Wakefield and Peace Dale. The proposed improvements will provide better traveling conditions for both motorists and pedestrians. Improvements include resurfacing, replacing badly degraded curbing and sidewalks, and improving stormwater drainage systems.

WHEN: Monday, May 6, 2013 from 6-8 p.m.

WHERE: Council Chambers of Town Hall, 180 High Street, in Wakefield

DIRECTIONS: From Route 1: Take the Historic Wakefield exit and follow 1.3 miles on Route 1A (Old Tower Hill Road, and Main Street). Turn right onto High Street. Town Hall is 0.3 miles on the left, and ample parking is available. From Route 108: Follow Route 108 (Kingstown Road) into Peace Dale. At the Peace Dale Rotary, turn onto High Street and follow 0.7 miles to Town Hall on your right. RIPTA's Bus Route 66 provides service along High Street, and on Routes 1A and 108.
