Pawtucket Pastor Sentenced to 18 Years for Probation Violation of 1992 Child Molestation Charge

Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Superior Court Magistrate John F. McBurney, III, sentenced Julio Alicea (age 70), with a last known address of 213 Hunt Street, Central Falls, to serve 18 years in violation of his probation stemming from a 1992 child molestation conviction.

Alicea was charged in May with two counts of second degree child molestation after a 10-year victim reported Alicea molested her while playing hide and seek. Alicea reported his occupation as a pastor at the Iglesia Pentecostal Jesucristo Roca Eterna church in Pawtucket.

During the one-day violation hearing, the state proved that Alicea failed to keep the peace and be of good behavior, conditions of his probation, when he molested the young girl.

Alicea was convicted of multiple counts of first degree child molestation in 1992 and was sentenced to 30 years with 12 to serve and 18 suspended with probation.

"As a pastor, Alicea portrayed himself as a man of faith and honor, yet he was far from that. He used his position of trust in the community to engage in his continued pattern of criminal behavior, molesting young victims," said Attorney General Kilmartin. "I commend this young victim for her strength in coming forward to stop this man from hurting another child."

Special Assistant Attorney General and Chief of the Child Abuse Unit Shannon Signore handled the case for the Office of Attorney General.
