Interstate Highway Restrictions
Highway and Exit Closures
Pawtucket: I-95 NB at Exit 27 (Downtown), highway closed for construction during the early morning hours of Wednesday from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. Please follow signed detour.
Pawtucket: I-95 SB at Exit 27 (Downtown) and the on-ramp from Exchange St. to I-95 SB, ramps closed for construction, Tuesday from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
Pawtucket: I-95 NB at Exit 28 (School St.), exit closed for construction, Tuesday night from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Motorists should follow detour using Exit 27 or 29.
Providence: I-95 SB at Exit 22 (Downtown), the off-ramp will be closed for construction, Monday from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. Follow detour using Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.).
Providence: I-95 NB at Exit 23 (Rte. 146), State Offices exit closed for construction, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Follow detour using Rte. 146 NB.
Overnight
Lincoln/Cumberland: I-295 NB, from Exit 9 (Rte. 146) to Exit 10 (Mendon Rd.), left and right lanes closed for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Traffic will use the center lane.
Pawtucket: I-95 NB & SB, from Exit 29 (Broadway) to Exit 27 (Downtown), various lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
Pawtucket: I-95 NB at Exit 28 (School St.), ramp narrowed for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
Providence: Exit 22 (Downtown/Rte. 6 & 10/Providence Place Mall) from I-95 NB & SB ramps narrowed for construction, Monday- Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
Providence: I-95 NB & SB, at Exit 23 (Rte. 146/Charles St.), alternating lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
Warwick: I-95 SB & NB, from Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.) to Exit 9 (Rte. 4), alternating lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
Weekday
Providence/East Providence: I-195 WB, at the Washington Bridge between Exit 5 (Broadway) and Exit 2 (South Main St.), right shoulder closed for bridge inspection, Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Continuing
Cranston/Johnston: Commercial vehicles on I-295 SB at Exit 4 (Rte. 14) are temporarily restricted to right-lane travel only while bridge repairs are completed.
Cumberland/Lincoln: Motorists traveling I-295 NB, from Exit 9 (Rte. 146) to Exit 10 (Rte. 122/Mendon Rd.), are now using the right lanes. The left lane crossover is closed. Truck traffic is no longer restricted, and Exit 10 is open to all traffic.
Cumberland/Lincoln: Motorists traveling I-295 SB, from Exit 11 (Rte. 114/Diamond Hill Rd.) to Exit 9 (Rte. 146), are now using the left lanes.
East Providence: On I-195 EB, the right lane of Exit 4 (Taunton Ave./Veterans Memorial Parkway) to Veterans Memorial Parkway is closed through Summer 2013. Follow detour using Exit 8 (Rte. 1A/Rte. 114).
East Providence: The East Shore Expressway Bridge over Warren Avenue (Exit 7 off of I-195 EB) is posted for use by vehicles under 17 tons. Detours required for heavier vehicles.
Exeter: I-95 SB, at the Ten Rod Road Bridge, right shoulder closed through Summer 2013. Lanes shift to left.
Pawtucket: The on-ramp from Main St. to I-95 SB is closed. Follow detour using Walcott St., Underwood St. and Exchange St. to reach an on-ramp for I-95 SB.
Warwick/West Warwick: I-95 NB & SB at Exit 8 (Rte. 2), lanes shifted to the left. Use caution entering and exiting the highway.
Metropolitan Providence Bridge Closure
Pawtucket: George Street, at the bridge over I-95 between Marrin St. and Cedar St., road closed for bridge work from Tuesday at 9 p.m. to Wednesday at 2 p.m.
West Bay Bridge Closure
Coventry: Barbs Hill Rd., just north of Potter Rd., road closed for bridge work Wednesday & Thursday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Follow detour using Plain Woods Rd., Moosup Valley Rd. and Potter Rd. A detour map can be downloaded at www.dot.ri.gov/detourmaps.
