The following work is scheduled to take place on Rhode Island's Interstate highways from August 31, 2013-September 6, 2013. These operations include exit, ramp and lane closures. Interstate Highway Restrictions
Exit and Ramp Closures
Providence: The on-ramp from Branch Ave. to I-95 North will be closed for maintenance, Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Follow detour using Branch Ave., Silver Spring and Smithfield Rd. to access I-95 North.
Providence: I-95 South at Exit 22 (Downtown/ Rte. 6 & 10/Providence Place Mall), exit closed for electrical conduit installation, Tuesday-Friday from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. Follow signed detour using Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.)
Warwick: I-95 North at Exit 14A (Rte. 37 East), the off-ramp will close temporarily on Wednesday for construction, reopening Spring 2014. Use Exit 13 (Airport Connector) to Rte. 1 (Post Rd.) or follow signed detour using Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.) to reverse direction to I-95 South to Exit 14A. Click here for detour map.
Traffic Pattern Change
Cumberland/Lincoln: Motorists traveling on I-295 South, from Exit 11 (Rte. 114/Diamond Hill Rd.) to Exit 9 (Rte. 146), are now encountering a split-lane traffic pattern due to bridge construction. Trucks heading south are directed to utilize the left lane via the median crossover road. Motorists exiting on Exit 10 (Rte. 122/Mendon Rd.) must use the right lane. Those entering I-295 South from Mendon Rd. will be required to yield at the bottom of the ramp to highway traffic.
Lane Closures
Pawtucket: I-95 North, from Exit 27 (Downtown) to Exit 29 (Broadway), various lane closures for construction, Tuesday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
Providence: I-95 North & South at Exit 22 (Downtown/Rtes. 6 & 10/Providence Place Mall), ramps narrowed for highway lighting installation, Monday night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day, and Tuesday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
Warwick: I-95 North & South, from Exit 9 (Rte. 4) to Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.), alternating lane closures for construction, Tuesday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
