Governor Lincoln D. Chafee Appoints Cheryl S. Haynes to the Rhode Island Judicial Nominating Commission

Haynes is a leader in the human resources field

Governor Lincoln D. Chafee has announced today his appointment of Cheryl S. Haynes of Harmony to the Rhode Island Judicial Nominating Commission.

"Cheryl Haynes has more than two decades of experience as a strategic human resources professional. As a leader in the field, she will bring to the Judicial Nominating Commission valuable insight, perspective, and expertise based on decades of outstanding work, which includes recruiting and evaluating qualified applicants for jobs," Governor Chafee said.

The Judicial Nominating Commission is charged with screening applicants for vacancies on all of Rhode Island's courts. Upon notification of a judicial vacancy, the Commission advertises for interested candidates, who then complete an extensive application. The Commission then selects candidates to be interviewed, solicits public comment, and conducts background checks. Based on the information developed throughout this process, the Commission votes and submits to the Governor a list of 3-5 highly qualified individuals for each vacancy.

Cheryl S. Haynes Haynes is currently Vice President/HR Business Partner for RBS Citizens Financial Group. She develops HR strategy and coordinates the execution of related projects. Currently, as HR Business Partner for Business Services Operations – Americas she, among several duties, was the sponsor and architect of a pilot program to develop high potential middle managers for their future as operational leaders.

She has held HR positions at MetLife, CVS, State Street Bank and Trust Company, and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. She holds a master's in human resources counseling from Northeastern University and a bachelor's in business administration from Bryant University.
