Interim Report of the Providence County GRand Jury (Reported May 6, 2014)

March 22, 2014 shooting of Douglas Cooper by Providence Police The Providence County Grand Jury completed its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting of Douglas Cooper by two members of the Providence Police Department on March 22, 2014. The Grand Jury has determined that the actions by the Officers were lawful and legally justified.

Louis Pina, DOB: 1993 750 Commonwealth Ave. Warwick, RI P1-2014-1347AG

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Louis Pina with one count of murder, one count of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence, one count of possession of a firearm without a license, and one count of vandalism.

It is alleged that on or about December 4, 2013, Louis Pina shot at 16-year-old Eric Cuesta and another juvenile as they sat in a motor vehicle on Adelaide Avenue in Providence. Cuesta died as a result of a gunshot wound. The other juvenile was not struck. It is further alleged that Pina vandalized the Providence Police cell block.

The Providence Police conducted the investigation. Pina is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court before Justice Robert D. Krause on May 13, 2014.

Michael Rossi, DOB: 1956 55 Marilyn Drive North Providence, RI P1-2014-1348B

Dino Gomes, DOB: 1968 LKA: 384 Orms Street Providence, RI P1-2014-1348C

The Providence County Grand Jury reported out an indictment charging Leonard Dias, Michael Rossi and Dino Gomes each with three counts of first degree robbery and two counts of conspiracy. It is alleged that on or about July 1, 2013, the three defendants robbed an individual. It is further alleged that on or about August 24, 2013, the three defendants robbed two individuals.

The alleged incidents took place in Providence. The Providence Police conducted the investigation. Dias is scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on May 7, 2014. Rossi and Gomes are scheduled to be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on May 28, 2014.
