Voters in Central Falls will go to the polls in February to elect two new city council members. Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea is providing several opportunities for voters in that city who do not currently have a valid photo ID to obtain a FREE Voter ID Card provided by the Department of State.
Per Rhode Island state law, poll workers will ask all voters to present a current and valid photo ID when they vote at their polling place. Below is a list of dates and locations where registered Central Falls voters may obtain a FREE Voter ID card:
January 30, 2015 10am-Noon - Forand Manor, 30 Washington Street February 2, 2015 10am-Noon - Wilfred Manor, 466 Hunt Street February 2, 2015 1:30-3:30pm - Progreso Latino, 626 Broad Street
"I am committed to ensuring that every Rhode Islander who is eligible to vote has every opportunity to do so," Gorbea said. "The Central Falls special election is a great opportunity for more citizens in that city to get involved in the democratic process."
Registered voters interested in obtaining a Voter ID Card must present proof of identity such as:
Employee ID card, credit or debit card, military ID card, student ID card, health club ID card, insurance plan ID card, public housing ID card, or a recent utility bill, bank statement, government paycheck, voter notification issued by a government agency, vehicle registration or vehicle certificate of ownership (title) issued by a government agency.
Please note, no eligible voter will be turned away at the polls. Voters who do not bring an acceptable ID to their polling place can vote using a standard Provisional Ballot. The ballot will be counted if the signature they give at their polling place matches the signature on their voter registration.

Los votantes de Central Falls iran a las urnas en febrero para elegir a dos nuevos integrantes del concejo municipal. La secretaria de estado Nellie M. Gorbea ofrecerá varias oportunidades para que aquellos votantes de dicha ciudad que no cuentan en la actualidad con una identificación fotográfica valida puedan obtener una tarjeta de identidad Voter ID Card sin costo alguno.
De acuerdo con la ley estatal de Rhode Island, los trabajadores electorales le pedirán a todos los votantes que presenten una tarjeta de identificación fotográfica valida y sin expirar al momento de votar en su mesa electoral correspondiente. A continuación ofrecemos un listado de fechas y lugares donde los votantes registrados de Central Falls pueden adquirir una tarjeta de identidad Voter ID Card sin costo alguno:

Todo votante elegible que quiera obtener una tarjeta de identidad Voter ID Card debe presentar una de las siguientes pruebas de identidad:
Tarjeta de identidad de empleado, tarjeta de crédito o debito, identificación militar, identificación estudiantil, tarjeta de membrecía de un gimnasio, tarjeta de identidad de su seguro medico, tarjeta de identidad de housing, una factura de gas o luz reciente, un estado de cuenta de su banco, un cheque de pago emitido por el gobierno, una carta o notificación emitida por una agencia electoral del gobierno, la registración de su auto o el certificado de titulo del mismo emitido por una agencia del gobierno.
Sírvase notar que todo votante elegible tendrá la oportunidad de votar en su mesa electora. Todo votante que no presente una identificación aceptable aun tendrá la oportunidad de votar utilizando una boleta provisional (Provisional Ballot). Esta boleta será contada siempre y cuando la firma que el votante ofrezca en su mesa electoral coincida con la firma que aparece en su tarjeta de inscripción como votante.
