Raimondo Announces Four Nominations to Quonset Development Corporation Board of Directors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Governor Gina M. Raimondo today announced her intent to nominate Shannon Brawley, Martha Holt Castle, Scot Jones, and Guillaume de Ramel to the Quonset Development Corporation (QDC) Board of Directors. She will submit their names for consideration to the Rhode Island State Senate for confirmation.

"The Quonset Development Corporation is a tremendous asset to Rhode Island and a great example of how we can attract new businesses and grow more jobs in our state," said Raimondo. "Shannon, Martha, Scot, and Guillaume understand my goal of reigniting our economy and will support Quonset Development Corporation's work to make investments that will expand opportunities for Rhode Island families."

"As an aviation developer and Trustee of the De Ramel Foundation, I know we are on the right path to success and I look forward to lending a hand to continue to build QDC."

These nominees are replacing John Laramee, James Berson, Robert Breslin, Jr., Esq. and Anthony Miccolis, whose terms have expired.

"I also want to thank the Quonset Development Corporation Board of Director's outgoing members," added Raimondo. "Quonset and Rhode Island have benefited tremendously from their time and expertise."

The QDC is a quasi-state agency responsible for the development and management of the Quonset Business Park in order to attract and retain successful businesses that provide diversified jobs. The QDC was created by the Rhode Island General Assembly on July 1, 2004 and became effective through a transfer of powers on January 1, 2005. The QDC is governed by an 11 member Board of Directors.

Shannon Brawley is the Executive Director Rhode Island Nursery and Landscape Association. Brawley also serves on the Rhode Island Agricultural Partnership and formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation. She is also a committee member of The City of Newport - Integrated Resiliency Innovation Hub. Previously, Brawley was a Design Associate at Tupelo Gardenworks Ltd., while serving as Owner and Partner of Tupelo Flowerworks Ltd. Brawley holds a BSc., Landscape Architecture from the University of California, Davis, and went on to do Graduate work in geography from the University of California, Davis.

Martha Holt Castle is the Managing Director of Compliance & Information Assurance, Chief Compliance Officer, Privacy & Security Officer at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island. Prior to this, she served as the Assistant General Counsel & Privacy Officer at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island. Castle holds a BA in English from Boston College and her Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School.

Scot Jones is the CEO/Owner of Groov-Pin Corp. Jones is a Board- and Executive Committee member of Crossroads RI and SE Greenhouse, the Vice President of Women's Center of RI and a member of Rhode Island Commodores. Prior to joining Groov-Pin Corp., he served as Marketing and Engineering Manager of GE. Jones holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine, a MBA from the University of Chicago and a MASc in Wave Sciences from the University of Toronto.

Guillaume de Ramel is a Director of FH Prince & Co and serves as a trustee for The de Ramel Foundation. Prior to de Ramel's current roles, he was the Chief Operating Officer at B.R. Arnold Construction. De Ramel received his BA in Architectural Studies from Hobart and William Smith Colleges and his Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University.
