A total of four candidates have filed the required declaration of candidacy form with the North Smithfield board of canvassers as a first step towards appearing on the ballot in the Special Election for Town Council. The deadline for filing a declaration of candidacy form was this past Friday, April 24, at 4pm.

Those candidates are: Daniel J. O'Brien, Joseph H. O'Donnell, Anthony L. Soly and Linda B. Thibault.

In order to appear on the ballot for the Special Election, these candidates must: pick up nomination papers from the North Smithfield board of canvassers beginning on Tuesday, April 28, obtain valid signatures from fifty eligible voters on their nomination papers, and return them on or before Tuesday, May 5, at 4pm.
