Employee Retirement System of Rhode Island wins Government Chief Financial Officer of the Year Award

General Treasurer Magaziner Congratulates ERSRI Chief Financial Officer Zack Saul on Winning CFO of the Year Award

PROVIDENCE, RI - General Treasurer Seth Magaziner congratulates Zack Saul of the Employees Retirement System of Rhode island on winning the Providence Business News Government Chief Financial Officer of the Year award.

"The work of the Employees Retirement System is extremely important. We have a great team that works hard every day to make sure that all of the public servants making up the system have a predictable and sustainable retirement." said General Treasurer Seth Magaziner. "Zack exemplifies this spirit and his strong work ethic and excellent financial skills provide the foundation for all the work we do for the members of the retirement system, and gives everyone great confidence in the system."

As Director of Finance for the Employees' Retirement System, Zack is responsible for the all aspects of financial reporting, controls, and financial operations of the $8 billion dollar state and municipal pension fund. In the past several years Zack has helped lead initiatives to replace an aging general ledger accounting system, implemented numerous new GASB accounting standards, and improved financial reporting and controls across the system. He also successfully oversaw an initiative to replace the legacy payroll system for the ERSRI's 30,000 pension recipients.

"In a very complex and ever changing world of pension finance and accounting, Zack's finance and operations experience coupled with his interactive team-building management style has proven to be an asset to the members of the retirement System, "Said ERSRI Executive Director Frank Karpinski. "He's very deft at managing the financial operations of our System."
