Raimondo Directs U.S. and Rhode Island Flags to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Master Sergeant Peter A. McKenna Jr.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Governor Gina M. Raimondo has ordered the U.S. and Rhode Island flags to be flown at half-staff beginning Tuesday, August 11 in honor of the service and sacrifice of Master Sergeant Peter A. McKenna Jr., 35, of Bristol, Rhode Island. McKenna died August 8, in Kabul, Afghanistan.

"Master Sergeant McKenna served our nation with distinction," said Raimondo. "All Rhode Islanders are grateful for his service, and our prayers are with his family and loved ones. We have lost a patriot and a hero."

The U.S. and Rhode Island flags will be flown at half-staff beginning Tuesday through his services.
