Operation Holiday Cheer Continuing to Collect Service Member Names

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The 2015 Operation Holiday Cheer campaign is continuing to collect names of service members to receive a special care package that contains reminders of Rhode Island.

If you know a service member from Rhode Island who will be away from home for the holidays due to military service, please contact Rhode Island National Guard Family Assistance Center Coordinator Kevin McDonnell at kevin.e.mcdonnell.ctr@mail.mil.

Donations of goods from the general public will be accepted and sorted at the National Guard Armory at 541 Airport Road in Warwick on Saturday, November 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Volunteers will help assemble care packages for the troops on Sunday, November 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., also at the Armory.

The annual event, in its 13th year, is organized by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor in conjunction with the National Guard's Family Assistance Center, the U.S. Postal Service - Providence and the Rhode Island chapter of the American Red Cross.
